Adam Rosenberg handles lead vocals, keys, occasional guitar, and some "skeleton" songwriting - that is, the chords for several songs and the lyrics and melodies for nearly all of them (so far). The idea for this new band began when the previous band he fronted, The Cheats, broke up in mid-2005 and he realized that no one wants to hear him sing solo a cappella (anymore). So he took some guitar lessons and eventually figured out how to start writing songs from scratch. Since he can't play everything in his head, nor does his head always have the best ideas, it's a darn good thing Bryan showed up when he did. On top of that, Bryan's spare bass roped Colin back into the music scene. Throw in a random, well-timed Starr, and The Known Unknowns were born.
Adam has been a plasma physicist, a bureaucrat in the Department of Energy, and is now an energy science & technology policy staffer on the Hill. If that doesn't scream "rock star", he doesn't know what will.
He's known Bryan since August 1994 when they were both freshmen in the same dorm unit, then after a ~6 year gap since 2000 when Bryan followed him to the same grad school, then (after another ~6 year gap) since mid-2006 when he showed up in D.C. and Adam finally agreed to start hanging out with him on a regular basis. Adam's known Colin since August 2003 when they were both lucky enough to work their way into a program for special scientists that may have the social capacity to start bands. And Adam's heart feels like it's known Ray and Starr forever (platonically, he swears.)
